Q: What does Afewee mean?

A: It is a Jamaican slang word meaning ‘It’s for us’ – The name conveys the strong community ethos of the charity.

A: Football & Boxing

Q: Where are you based?

A: Brixton Recreation Centre (2 min walk from Brixton tube/rail station)

Q: When was Afewee founded and who is in charge?

A: Afewee was founded by Steadman Scott & Tony Goldring in 1997 who also head the Football Academy. The Boxing club is run by head coach Bobby Miltiadous (See ‘contact’ for details)


Q: Can I just turn up to a class or do I need to book in advance?

Simply turn up, just let the reception know you are there for boxing, they will send you down to us on level 1

Q: What ages do you train?

A: We train ages from 5 years and above

Q: What do I need to bring to a class?

A: Whether you’re an adult or child, you will need loose comfortable clothing to train in, appropriate trainers and a bottle of water. We provide all necessary equipment (gloves, ropes etc.)

Q: Do you train beginners?

A: Yes, most of our members are beginner level, train for fitness or to learn boxing technique.

Q: Do you offer competitive boxing?

A: Yes, we have a squad of junior/adult competitive boxers, who either compete already or are working towards competition. This is an option open to all; however a certain level of commitment and ability will of course need to be shown first!

Q: Do you offer personal training?

A: Yes, several of our coaches are qualified personal trainers and offer this at competitive rates to suit your schedule and needs (See ‘Personal Training’ for more info)
